Fair Food

I can’t really describe in words the variety of food one can find at the Indiana State Fair. No matter what it was there seemed to be a way of frying it somehow. There was even a stall selling fried Kool Aid and the famous Deep-Fried Butter, which you eat on its own.

I’m not quite sure how that works!

Below is a collection of photos from the fair to illustrate the food available. I think this is a better medium, for this topic, than words. This year was the year of the Soybean, but I couldn’t find any soy food products.

However, the trains were run on Soy Biodiesel, which was good.

I thought I and found something healthy. But, alas, it wasn’t to be.

Instead, there was plenty of other interesting and great-smelling food. Such as:
A piece of home.

Various meats on a stick.

A choice of sandwiches and vegetables, including Fried Green Beans.

Jack eating a Cheesy Beef Stick (ground minced mixed with cheddar then cooked on a stick). The verdict was that it was very tasty and cheesy.

Saltwater Taffy looked popular. This is apparently like toffee but made with saltwater. However, the man who told us this had just been caught , by us, eating the produce so may have wanted to get rid of us.

The famous Lemonade Shakes, which were very lemony.

Slush drinks were popular too.

Don’t forget the Dogs.

And the Pizzas.

Not to mention the Cream Puffs, Elephant Ears, Twinkies and other deep-fried goodies!

And this is a ‘Garbage Burger’ from there. This contained a Pork Burger, with Pulled BBQ Pork on top and served with Pit-tatoes and Apple Sauce)

But other options could have been..

Or a Doughnut Burger ( A burger served between two doughnuts, which Dan tried and had mixed reviews)

Or a double dipped Corn on the Cob (and we got teased for taking a picture of ‘his cob’. Honestly, men can turn anything innocent into something inappropriate)
